She’s the angel of small death and the codeine scene” - HozierI wish I had this lingerie set! It was inspired by my embroidered leather jacket (check out my short “Take Me to Merch” comic).
I got the dark red aesthetic inspiration from Penny Dreadful, also the inspiration for the neck tattoo. The hand tattoo is three snakes shaped into Triskelion. In the original sketch I was going for more of a rockabilly look but changed my mind for a more devilish look.
I originally intended for this doll to be a Wednesday Adams style. I started her eye makeup and wanted to use goth rustic colors and became more inspired by the Monarch Butterfly.
My name (Vanessa) is a genus of Butterfly with species under it such as Red Admirals, Painted Ladies and The Kamehameha. So butterflies are kind of special to me and what make this Matryoshka doll design so special to me to, even though the Monarch isn’t under my name genus.

She is complete! I’ve finally completed my tribute to this goth icon (inspired by Christina Ricci’s portrayal of Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family 1991 Film) . If you look closely you can see a special custom lace pattern I designed for Wednesday Addams’ dress (highlights of it are floating above her).

Now that it’s December, I thought I would redraw one of my favorite pieces from earlier this year. I’ve been getting more comfortable drawing with my tablet and using Firealpaca, I’m hoping next year to step up my digital art with a new drawing program, new tablet or beginning to take commissions/sell my work.
The Devoraks look cute as heck as nesting dolls.
